A certificate of non-distraint (inability to seize property for non-payment of taxes) related
to the collection in the borough of Southwark of the second payment of the second of two subsidies granted
on 17 March 1589.
The collectors certify they have been unable to collect the assessed sums from those named in the document,
or to distrain goods to the relevant value.
The document includes names of parishioners in St Saviour, St Olave, and St Thomas.
